Jakarta, Indonesia – ( 22 February 2024) – The largest architecture exhibition in Indonesia, ARCH:ID 2024, has officially commenced on February 22, 2024, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang. The opening ceremony was graced by the distinguished presence of Angela Tanoesoedibjo, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, marking a momentous beginning to this esteemed gathering of architectural brilliance.

This event marks the fourth edition of ARCH:ID as an annual event that has become Indonesia’s Most Awaited Architecture Forum and Trade Event. With the theme “Placemaking: Tolerance,” ARCH:ID 2024 focuses on the role of architecture in fostering harmonious coexistence of humans, the evolution of cities, the preservation of nature, and the integration of technology. Emphasizing the importance of architecture and design in creating inclusive and tolerant spaces. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, praised the collaborative efforts of the architect and construction industry associations for this event, stating,
“I highly appreciate the enthusiasm of the architect and construction industry associations to collaborate through the ARCH:ID 2024 exhibition, showcasing internationally acclaimed exhibitions and conferences. At the same time, we encourage architects and the construction industry in Indonesia to innovate synergistically, potentially developing Indonesian architecture as one of the leading subsectors of the creative economy.”

Georgius Budi Yulianto, President of the Indonesian Institute of Architects, stated, “By addressing the theme ‘Placemaking: Tolerance,’ the Exhibition Curators aim to create ‘in-between space’ in architectural compositions, spaces that are inclusive for all, and provide room for social activities to take place, down to the often overlooked details in urban spaces. We hope this exhibition will mark significant milestones in architecture exhibitions in Indonesia and serve as a benchmark in creating temporary spaces rich in quality and the best values of the showcased products.”

Linda Leoni, the Country Director of C.I.S, expressed the organization’s commitment, stating, “We are honored to collaborate and develop even stronger relations with our partner, IAI, to continuously be the catalyst and provide a strategic platform for industry stakeholders to create a bigger impact on the development of the national economy, especially in the sectors of architecture and building materials, as the country also embarks on the journey of moving into a new capital city.”

Rudiantoro, Director of Project of C.I.S, reflects on ARCH:ID’s evolution, stating, “From its humble inception in the year 2000, ARCH:ID has evolved into a monumental platform, now celebrating its fourth edition. With each passing year, we aim to continuously be the core platform for all stakeholders in facilitating business expansion, fostering connections, and serving as a launchpad for new products, solutions, and technology.”

The exhibition is meticulously curated by a team of esteemed architects including Ar. Yacobus Gatot S. Surarjo, IAI, Ar. Nelly Daniel, IAI, and Ar. I Ketut Dirgantara, IAI. This collaboration between the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) and PT CIS Exhibition not only showcases installations from renowned brands but also features contributions from the Indonesian Lighting Engineering Association (HTII), the Indonesian Landscape Architect Association (IALI), the Indonesian Association of Interior Designers (HDII), and the Ministry of Tourism.

Designed to captivate and inspire its anticipated 17,000 visitors, ARCH:ID 2024 emerges as a beacon of architectural excellence with over 350 meticulously curated stands from 100 local and international exhibitors, spanning a gross exhibition space of 8,000 sqm. This event features 19 curated booths, 14 installations, and 4 feature exhibitions, serving as a meeting point for the creativity and collaboration of architectural stakeholders from close to 100 companies.

Participation extends to students of local universities, as well as contributions from IAI Regional representatives. In addition to the exhibition, ARCH:ID 2024 offers many other programs, such as a 2-day conference, ARCH:ID Talk Series, Tuju-Tuju Talks, and the ARCH:ID Hackathon, alongside a diverse array of Featured Exhibitions including Menyawang, WOW read, Heritage Sketch, Tribute to Eko Prawoto & Josef Priotomo, Istana Melayu Badan Pelestarian IAI, OIKN, 4 Nations Showcase, and Exclusive Projects from ARCH:ID. Over 200 local & international speakers contribute to enriching the event’s content and discussions.

In a series of Talk Series held at ARCH:ID 2024, speakers from various important entities share insights on the topic of ‘Placemaking: Tolerance’ and discuss efforts to create inclusive spaces. Among the speakers are representatives from the National Disability Commission, the Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Ministry of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR). Some of the presented Talk Series titles include; “Interior Planning & MEP of Hospitals that Tolerate All Users” by HDII, “Disability-Friendly Placemaking” by the National Disability Commission, “The Urgency of Creating Sustainable Cultural Advancement Areas” by Directorate General of Culture, Ministry of Education and Culture, “School as a Space for Creative Education for Children and Teachers,” and “Public Space Lighting” by TII.

For the ARCH:ID conference, it will be divided into 2 big sub-themes, namely Urban Forum & Architecture Forum. On the first day there will be an Urban Forum with renowned speakers including Bambang Susantono from Nusantara Capital City Authority (IKN), Rob Adams, City Architect of Melbourne, Nans Voron, Obel Award 2023 Winner, and Sibarani Sofian,

About the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI)

The IAI was officially established on September 17, 1959, in Bandung. Now, at its 61st year, IAI boasts a membership of more than 20,500 architects registered through 34 provincial administrations, 1 representative administration, and 4 regional administrations spread across Indonesia, with the youngest provincial administration in Maluku, which was declared on August 19, 2017.
